About Swysh Den Basketball

Swysh Den opened in Scottsdale in August 2025 to give local athletes a facility built specifically for basketball, run by a staff who have actually played and coached the game at a high level. We're an ESA-approved vendor for basketball tutoring in Arizona, and every membership tier trains under the same coaches and the same equipment.

Who We Are

Every court, machine, and coach on staff exists to do one thing: build real basketball skill in a space designed for it from the ground up, not a converted warehouse with a hoop bolted on. Shooting reps run on Dr. Dish machines across five dedicated courts, dribbling stations run daily 20-minute sessions, and the Interactive Wall turns agility drills into something players actually want to repeat. It's the same setup whether a member is here for a 55-minute skills clinic, an open pickup run, or a private training block.

We're located at 8212 E Evans Rd in Scottsdale and open seven days a week, Monday through Friday 9am to 9pm, Saturday 9am to 7pm, and Sunday 9am to 6pm. Reach the front desk at (480) 685-8773 or admin@swyshden.com.

Meet the Leadership Team

Swysh Den is run by people who built their careers in basketball, not people who added basketball to a resume. Here's who you'll actually see on the floor.

Steve Moses

Founder & CEO

Steve founded Swysh Den after more than 20 years building and growing operations-focused businesses, pairing that experience with a business and economics background from Arizona State University. He's an NFHS-accredited basketball coach who treats the game as a vehicle for teaching discipline and teamwork, and he's usually courtside with his family at a Suns or Mercury game when he's not on-site.

Michael "Ruff" Ruffin

Basketball Program Director

Ruffin played nine seasons in the NBA with the Bulls, 76ers, Jazz, Wizards, Bucks, and Trail Blazers before moving into player-development coaching at the NBA and G League level. He sets the standard for Swysh Den's basketball programming, translating pro-level training habits into something every member, from first dribble to competitive club player, can use.

William "JR" Coleman

Head of Competitive Basketball

JR oversees club and league play for Swysh Den athletes working toward the next level of competition. He's also the founder of TheAcademyPHX, and brings that same track record of building competitive programs to how Swysh Den structures its path from rec ball to club basketball.

Brandon Smith

General Manager

Brandon runs the day-to-day at Swysh Den, drawing on more than 20 years in basketball and player development. A former Division 1 athlete and Certified Basketball Instructor, he built his coaching approach around fundamentals, mental toughness, and basketball IQ, not just extra reps.

Jordan Lewis, LPC

Mental Performance

Jordan is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a psychology and counseling background from William Jewell College and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He's developing Swysh Den's Mental Performance Certificate Program, giving athletes and their parents tools for the mental side of competition that most training facilities never address.

Sophie Cunningham

Brand Ambassador

Sophie plays for the Indiana Fever in the WNBA after an All-SEC career at the University of Missouri, and serves as Swysh Den's Brand Ambassador. She lends her name and competitive energy to the mission of developing the next generation of players in Scottsdale.

Beyond leadership, our coaching and performance roster includes Sports Performance Specialist J Sharpe III of Stay Sharpe Performance, along with trainers Jordan Schiller, Kai Warren, Blake Kramer, Zach Williamson, and Mathias Clairis-Gauthier.

What Makes Swysh Den Different

Innovative Training

Dr. Dish shooting machines, daily dribbling stations, and the Interactive Wall put real training technology inside every membership, not just the top tier.

Expert Coaching

A staff with actual NBA, Division 1, and competitive-program experience runs the skills clinics and training, not part-time hires.

Community-Centered

Adult and youth leagues, camps, and open pickup games keep the facility running as a basketball community, not just a training gym.
