Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is a national nonprofit built around one idea: every kid deserves a positive experience in sports, no matter their background. Swysh Den has partnered with PCA to put that idea into practice on our own courts.

We've said from day one that Swysh Den isn't just in the business of building better shooters and better ball handlers. We're in the business of building better people. Partnering with PCA gives that commitment a proven framework instead of just good intentions. Their principles on leadership, teamwork, and personal growth now run through how our coaches run a skills clinic, how our leagues are officiated, and how a player gets talked to after a bad possession, not as a poster on the wall but as part of how the coaching actually happens.
The goal is the same one PCA was built around: every athlete who steps onto our courts, from a 4-year-old in Little Swyshers to an adult in a pickup run, should leave more confident, more coachable, and more resilient than when they walked in. Development on the court and development as a person are treated as the same project here, not two separate ones.
This isn't an abstraction. It's built into who runs our programs day to day.
Michael "Ruff" Ruffin, our Basketball Program Director, played nine NBA seasons across the Bulls, 76ers, Jazz, Wizards, Bucks, and Trail Blazers before moving into player-development coaching at the NBA and G League level. That background shapes a program built on development first, not just wins.
William "JR" Coleman, Head of Competitive Basketball and founder of TheAcademyPHX, sets the standard for how our competitive players are pushed, coached, and supported through the club team pathway.
General Manager Brandon Smith, a former Division 1 athlete and Certified Basketball Instructor, holds every coach on staff to the same bar of respect and accountability PCA asks of its member organizations.
Jordan Lewis, a Licensed Professional Counselor on our staff, is developing a Mental Performance Certificate Program, extending positive coaching into the mental side of the game, not just the physical one.
That same standard runs through our full training staff, including Jordan Schiller, Kai Warren, Blake Kramer, Zach Williamson, and Mathias Clairis-Gauthier, and it's reflected publicly by our Brand Ambassador Sophie Cunningham, a WNBA guard with the Indiana Fever and former Mizzou All-SEC standout.
The PCA partnership isn't a separate offering, it's the coaching philosophy underneath everything we run: skills clinics, dribbling and shooting sessions on our Dr. Dish machines, leagues, pick-up games, and open gym. Whether your family is on the Littles, Rookie, Family, or Adult Pickup membership, the same positive-coaching standard applies to how our staff works with your player.
